All of our acting classes are improv-based with a differing focus for each session (such as character development, bodywork, monologue, etc). Improv provides a framework for play, and play is where acting magic happens! We can explore other people, other circumstances, and other viewpoints and learn to express truth in imaginary circumstances!
For students in K-1st grade, we focus on the heart of the child – PLAY! Kids in this age group need plenty of time and space to move, they need the opportunity to try things themselves, and they use their imaginations constantly! We merge all of that with themed classes designed to get kids thinking creatively in ways that enhance their imaginations, encourage reading and writing skills, and build confidence as young humans!
For our students in 2nd through 6th grade, we take advantage of some of the skills they already have (like reading, writing, conversational, imagination, and social skills), and use those skills to explore imaginary scenarios. Through both scripted work and improv, students will learn to work as a team and to support one another as actors, developing interesting characters and creating unique scenarios to explore.
For our students in 7th grade or older, classes are focused on continuing an actor’s journey, meeting them exactly where they are– whether they’ve been acting since preschool or are just starting out. Using a combination of scripted work and improv, students will dive into character development, understanding text, breaking down inhibitions, building ensemble spirit, and learning tools to bring physical dimension to all of their roles.
All classes are repeatable as the material changes in each session.
There is always more to discover as an actor, and we are here to guide you on your journey!
