SHOW SYNOPSIS:
Many incredible women have long been making waves, breaking barriers, and leaving an indelible mark on the Great White Way. After the contributions of women like Cissie Loftus and Clare Kummer in the early 20th century, women like Mary Rodgers (The Mad Show, Once Upon A Mattress), Jeanine Tesori (Seussical, Shrek), and Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, Mean Girls) carried the flame in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Recently, that list has grown to include well-known modern musical maidens, like Dolly Parton (9 to 5), Cindy Lauper (Kinky Boots), Sara Bareilles (Waitress), Alicia Keys (Hell’s Kitchen), and Ingrid Michaelson (The Notebook). This year’s fall cabaret will celebrate the works of these remarkable women (and many more) through solos, duets, trios, and large group numbers.
OUR VISION:
PPAS produces musical performances that seek to inspire and ignite the imagination of all audiences, while providing an opportunity for students and community members to experience the joy of performing. People of every race, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith, nationality, and experience level are welcome and safe in our spaces. We strive to craft performances that respect, care for, and honor all individuals, cultures, and communities.
Out of HER Mind is a cabaret designed to celebrate many of the remarkable women who’ve made contributions to Musical Theatre over the years. People of all genders, ages 10 through adult, are encouraged to audition!

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- DO YOU HAVE TO BE A STUDENT AT POPOVSKY PERFORMING ARTS TO AUDITION FOR SHOWS?
NO! All of our auditions are open to any member of the community who is interested! - WHAT IS THE REHEARSAL COMMITMENT?
Performers can expect to rehearse for approximately 45 minutes per week for each number in which they are cast. -
WHAT SONGS ARE IN THE SHOW?
Performers will be cast in musical numbers based on casting needs and cast availability. The song list will be released once casting is complete. - I HAVE A SONG THAT FITS THE THEME, CAN I SING IT?
Song ideas are always welcome, but we make no guarantees that any suggestions will be included.
- WHO CAN AUDITION?
Anyone of any gender and experience level, age 10 and older, is encouraged to audition for this production. - WHEN WILL CASTING BE ANNOUNCED
Casting will be announced approximately one week after auditions. - DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO PARTICIPATE?
No! We just ask that you do everything you can to help promote the show, like hanging posters, selling advertisements, emailing and texting family and friends to invite them to the show, and sharing social media posts! These efforts help us to sell tickets, and ticket sales help us cover the costs of the show, such as space rental, props, costumes, and paying the directing staff for their time. - HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO WILL BE IN THE SHOW, AND WHAT THEY’LL PERFORM?
We look at the list of songs we are excited about and the people who audition for the show, and pair people up based on casting needs and rehearsal availability. We do our best to cast as many people as possible, but unfortunately, auditioning does NOT guarantee that you will be cast. - HOW WILL COMMUNICATION BE HANDLED?
We will use the app called BAND as the primary method of communication for the show. This is a FREE app that gives us access to similar tools to those available in Gacebook groups without requiring that all members of our staff and cast have Facebook accounts. We had great success with BAND during summer camp and summer shows, and we are excited to begin using BAND for our other performances as well.
