Musical Theatre dance is a mashup of jazz, tap, ballet, and modern dance styles and focuses on musical interpretation, specifically, the dancer as an actor.

For students in PreK-1st grade, we focus on the heart of the child – PLAY! Kids in this age group need plenty of time and space to move, they need the opportunity to try things themselves, and they use their imaginations constantly! We merge all of that with themed classes designed to get kids moving in ways that enhance their coordination, use their imaginations,  AND lay a foundation for later dance and acting exploration.

For our students in 2nd through 6th grade we provide the opportunity to explore dance without pressure, without the frills of costly recital costumes, and without the long-term commitment of a traditional dance studio. Students also have the opportunity to work on skills from multiple dance styles in one class.

For our students in 7th grade or older, classes are focused on giving performers a leg up in auditions and musical theatre settings. Dance skills and combinations in tap, jazz, ballet, and modern dance are used as students focus on combining dance skills with acting and musical interpretation skills.

The real-world experiences that the instructors at PPAS share with their students are an invaluable resource. No matter if you want to feel more confident in the audition room, are looking into performing for the first time, have done a dozen shows, or simply think this sounds inviting – we have a place for you here!
